New Things

We have changed a few things in our house.  While painting and fixing up the front room we decided to tackle the girls room and get them buck beds.  Which trickled down to new paint, new bedding, and new decals for the wall.  It was actually fun for me and I was especially thrilled that I could paint and not have my two year old all over me.  When I tried to paint the boys room when Trey was 2 he was all about helping me.  But Jayda would come in and just say “New Paint, me, yes!”  and run away and play with the other kids.

This is Tayah’s side of the new bright green, polka dotted room.  It is really bright but it matches the quilt and Tayah loves it.  That is all that matters, right?  Well, I told that to myself for the first few days. Now I am use to it and like it too.

This is Jayda’s side of the room.  We got the girls bunk beds but kept the down so Jayda wouldn’t climb.  She has the top bunk now and it is really cool because the side are up so high it is like a mini crib.  She has done really well sleeping in her own bed.  She only sometimes comes running in my room with her baby, bear, duck and blanket to come sleep with us.  There has been a few occasions that she refused to sleep with us or in the middle of the night realized she was in our bed and put herself back to her own bed.  The other kids have stopped sleeping with us so I know it won’t last forever.  I am not sure if I am happy about that one or not.

We are almost done with the front room too.  I say almost because I can’t decide what to hang back on the walls.  I will post pictures when I finally decide.  Hopefully before Trey’s baptism is June.

I wanted to make this room a little more formal.  We painted it, took out a lot of the pictures, put up crown molding and baseboards.  We have talked for a while about how we need a book shelve.  I was hesitant for a bit but I actually like it.

I love the color and the contrast of the white against it.  If you can see the cupboards on the left side.  We are changing those as well.  The cupboards are the last thing in our house to change from what it was originally when we moved in 12 years ago.  We are having someone help us do that to.  I can’t wait for that to get done!

Tayah has bugged me for about a half a year now to get her hair cut.  I hesitated and I always seemed to find some reason she needed her long hair.  Cheer, because you had to pull it up because it would be hot, dance because because you need it in a bun or summer because it’s so hot you will want it up.  Well, I finally got worn down and said yes!

My only request was that my hair dresser Ruby had to cut her hair.  So we had a “SICK” day off of school and went to Bakersfield.  It turned out really cute!!!  Ruby said her hair is the hardest hair to cut because it is so thick.  She thinned it out quit a bit.  There was hair everywhere.

We kept the tail end so we can send it into “Loks of Love”.  It isn’t long enough but they can donate it to some other place that can use it for parts.

Now, Kenny said that her hair style was his idea all along.  He said she would look cute with her hair cut that way and takes full credit for the style.  I will wait and see if he still has credit when she washes it and the curls/waves are back and it doesn’t look like this anymore and we have to blow it dry and straighten it for 30 min.   Tayah absolutely loves her hair cut and that it is short.
