Island Drive

Today Trey woke up and come directly to me, gave me the biggest hug and said, “I love you the most in the whole world!”  This trip could end right now and it would be the best trip ever.  It’s things like this that make being a mom all worth it.

We decided to drive around the island today because they were having huge waves on the northern end of the island.  They were so big that the lifeguards wouldn’t let anyone in the water.

Along our way we stopped to see the Wailua Falls.

It was a little difficult to see but we managed to use our athletic  skills and sit on top of the wall to see this gorgeous view.  We decided to explore and found a little trail just past the parking lot.  We started on our journey when Kenny said lets go down this way.  He was holding Jayda and started down this dirt, steep trail.  Next thing we know he is falling with Jayda in his arms.   I was screaming “Kenny” while I stood helplessly watching him freefall 10 feet down.  He did extremely well and held onto Jayda the whole time.  He received many bruises and scrapes and pulled his hamstring but survived.  This was only the beginning of the day so I wasn’t sure what the rest of the day would bring us.

We stopped off at Kealia Beach to get the big waves.  Well ok, not the huge waves but big enough to give the kids a thrill ride.

Zach was in heaven with these waves and the thrill of trying to get up enough speed to ride them.  They might have been a bit to powerful but they were all able to catch a wave or two.

Tayah tried to catch them too and was successful a few times but eventually got tired of being thrown down to the ground by the waves.

After a bit we decided to continue the drive to the northern side of the Island.  One, the kids were exhausted and two Kenny’s leg was killing him because we were sitting to long.

The waves were so impressive and HUGE.  It was like watching fireworks.  There was so many ohhs and ahhs.  The drive was so beautiful and green.  The kids did a great job and didn’t get to antsy.

When got to the end of the road, literally were the big waves were Trey and Zach found this coconut.  They started to play football with it and thought they were so funny.  They couldn’t believe how well it worked.  I am not sure about other boys but my boys will find anything they can and play some sort of sport with it.  P1010418 IMG_9445

We saw a dry cave and a wet cave.  They were pretty cool and very deep.

Kenny thought he was funny and captured a “Caught ya fighting so you need the talk” moment.  Afterwards, I was laughing and I think I might have been the only one in that photo who was.  It was great!  We had a great time exploring the Island and overall enjoyed each others company.
