Trail of 100 Giants

We go to the Trail of 100 Giant almost yearly. My kids always have a good time there but they weren't to excited to go there. Thankfully we went with the Buntings, Hansens and Reiswigs because they were excited when they heard more people where going. It is very hard to get a group photo with all those kids. This is the majority of them. The sole purpose for us going to the trees was to get Zach's scouting done. He needed to go on a 3-mile hike, identify trees and tell me the history of a tree stump. With the help of Zach Reiswig we were able to accomplish his scouting. We started the trip going to McNalley's for lunch. I think they are such good hamburgers and the frys are awesome. I enjoyed it more this time because Jayda was a sleep, which meant I was able to enjoy every bite (a little to much). It is expensive but once a year is ok with me.

This stump was hallowed out and could fit the boys. Caleb, Trey, Zach B. and Zach R.
Tayah needs to be on the "Tree Huggers" magazine cove page.

This is one of my favorite trees. It is open so you can fit in the middle of the tree. As you can see we can fit a lot of people in it. There is a whole on the side of the tree and my Zach climbed up the tree to the whole and took a picture of everyone inside. I think it is awesome.

My girls look thrilled to be here! It was at the end of the trail and it wasn't exactly cooler outside then at home. It is much nicer to go there when it is cooler.

This is one of my kids favorite trees. You can climb all over the roots and go in and out of them.

Thanks to Michelle for taking all the photos of my family. My piece of a so called camera wasn't working so well.

Strike a pose!!

Everyone had a walking stick or two to help them with this treacherous walk. I think Trey used his more for a weapon then a crutch. When we were done with the walk we stopped off at the waterfall by Jonsondale bridge. It was suppose to be just a look at the falls but ended up being a quick dip (literally for some) in the creek above it. It was nice and refreshing for most of us. We ended the wonderful day with Ice cream from Primos. Thanks everyone for making this day less painful for the scout trooper.

I think we may try to go back sometime this summer, maybe when it's not so hot. (ha) It was a nice easy walk, and the kids enjoyed it.
