A couple of weeks ago, ok a month ago, we went to Mammoth snowboarding with the Hansen family.
We had to guarantee the Hansens that they would love Mammoth despite the cost, because the lifts were the best!! The lifts slowdown when you get on and slowdown when you get off. Unlike, Shirley Meadows were you need to be ready to run and jump on and be ready to snowboard down part of the hill when you get off. I am pretty sure they loved it and will have a hard time going back to Shirley.
The kids all had a great time and got along so well. I did the unthinkable, for me, by putting Jayda in daycare for 2 days. She did great and the ladies there wanted to take her home with them. The ladies even helped her make a valentines craft. I loved it when I would pick her up that she would come running to me and give me a small love.
We had so much fun playing on the mountains in Mammoth.
Here is Zach going off the rail. He landed it really well and repeated this trail over and over.
Trey wanted to try the rail Zach went off but, cautious mom, put a kabosh on it. He settled for this rail and did great and went on it repeatedly. While I am posting this Kenny tells me that later on in the trip when I wasn't around Trey did try the big rail and fell a few times and landed it others. I guess this is why he likes dad better right now.
Kenny, being the competitive dad, had to keep up with his boys and try the rail. He had a good entrance but the landing was a little shaky.
Trey was daddies little boy the whole time and wanted to be by his side the entire time. Cute, so cute, until I got jealous and wanted some 'Trey time" and I had to really come up with reasons why I was a cool person to be with. Well, I didn't succeed but eventually he will be my mommies boy.
I think Ali and Tayah were the most excited that we were spending a few days together in Mammoth. Tayah had a hard time at first because her dad took her motorcycle riding the day before we left. While riding, Tayah started to go a little fast on the bike and instead of pulling on the break she was revving up the gas and fell off. Kenny thought it was the funniest thing ever because she looked like she was riding a bunking bronco!!! Tayah thought it was funny too until she fell off and bruised her tail bone. This made the first day of boarding very painful. She sat it out for a while and then got tuff and finished the first day going down the hill very slowly. The second day she seemed to be doing a lot better and boarded the whole day.
All us girls decided to take a break and ride the gondola. The kids had a treat on the ride and it made them a little wacky if you couldn't tell by Tayah's face!
The second day it snowed so hard and there was so much powder it was AWESOME!! The kids had a hard time getting through the powder but I was loving it. The trip went well with no one getting hurt until we were walking to the cars and Michelle slipped and fell on ice. She looked just like a cartoon falling down. It wasn't funny at all until maybe a few minutes later. Sorry Michelle, I am very bad at laughing at other peoples miseries.
The last day Kenny thought he would venture out with the 3 kids by himself. I stayed back with Jayda. The kids were so excited because it snowed the whole day before, all night and in the morning it was still snowing. Needless to say they didn't stay very long because the little 2 kids had a hard time in the deep powder.
Tayah making a snow angel while she waits for the bus to go boarding. What a wonderful trip and we want to do it again soon!!
