Summer is here and I love it. OK summer has been here for awhile but I had to work on the major posts first. I was excited to blog because it doesn't seem like I have time to scrapbook (which I love) anymore and I have always wanted to journal. Writing in a journal was just as hard because with the technology these days hand writing in a journal was like walking to town instead of driving. So I thought blogging would be the best of both worlds. Which it is, but it still takes time and that is what I am short on. So sorry about the late blog entry's but at least I am trying-right?
Anyways summer is great because there is no more homework, lunch's to pack in the morning and no routine. Although after a month I am ready for a routine. I love summer because my kids go outside for hours, swimming, coming up with different games to play, eating, riding bikes and if we are lucky they only come in to use the bathroom. If you know my kids and their records we really reward for those who make it to the bathroom. There is so much to do that I don't feel bad making them stay out all day long.

Every year I say I am going to have my kids read during the summer. We always start out strong but then basketball camps, baseball games, vacations and pure laziness get in the way. This year I made a point system. Hoping that this will motivate them and help them remind me that they need to read. They get points for finishing a book, writing their favorite part and illustrating it, working on scouts, memorizing their Articles of Faith, learning the times tables, and doing extra chores. They can earn points to get a treat or ICEE, toy, friend spend the night, go out to the movies, or they can save and get a WII game. So far things have worked out and they earned points to go to the movies and get Icees. We went on a vacation and 2 baseball tournaments and now it is hard to get motivated again. Luckily I have a good book "The Host" by Stephanie Meyer that I am reading and have a hard time putting down so reading time is easy for me to remember. Hopefully we will do good through out the summer. I will keep you posted. Notice they all are motivated and smiling in the photos. We'll have to see if they are as motivated towards the end of the summer.
