It has been a great but long season of baseball. We started back in February with practice then ended with our state tournament last week. Zach was on the Angels during the season and did very well. He played 3rd, short and sometimes pitcher. I tell you what, it is so nerve racking when your kid pitches. Everyone around you looks at you with a smile giving you this look like OK it's your sons turn and we hope he does well and doesn't blow it for the team. You just look back at them and smile too and think I hope he doesn't blow it for the team and please oh please don't hit anyone. Zach did pretty good and I don't think he hit more than a few batters. He only got hit a few times. Once in the butt and once in the leg. Zach said when he got beaned on the leg that hurt worse than his butt because he has cushion on his butt. Oh, how I wish I only had the cushion Zach had on his butt and not mine.
He made the all star team along with many of the boys from last year and a few new ones. They were all good boys and got along so well. We had our first tournament in San Luis Obispo and they did ok. Grandpa Bushling came and stayed with us and watched him. It was a good day for Zach and Grandpa because he played 3 games. As for me the weather was the hottest they have seen it in years. So Jayda was miserable which means I was too. I slammed my finger in the door and lost my contact. It was eventful, and if it wasn't eventful it wouldn't be my family. Two weeks later we went to the state qualifiers in Dinuba. At our stay in Dinuba, Zach was running around the pool area and Kenny told Zach to stop running around. Notice it was Kenny because I was in the room putting Jayda to bed. Zach was throwing a ball around the pool deck and slowed down to grab it under a chair and his feet fell out from under him. Why do things like this always happen while I am gone? Interesting, very interesting!! His eye swelled up so fast and big it looked like someone cut his skin and put a golf ball up in it. Kenny brought him up to the room and I helped him get ice and vitamin-I. I instantly wanted to take a picture to blog but Zach wasn't going to have it. I had to bribe like crazy. I think he got 2 bags of candy out of me. It took about a week or so to get better. He wasn't liking everyone looking at it so he always wore his hat way down on his forehead. It was a nice tournament because his grandma and grandpa Ellis came to watch his games. He is always excited when his grandparents come to watch him. Thanks for coming Grandpa and Grandma Ellis. We took 2nd which qualified us for state.

One week later we went to State in Fresno. It went for a whole week. Do you know that there isn't much to do in the very hot city of Fresno. We were there for 6 days and didn't want to do any more activites outside except the ball game. We only had 1 game a day so we had to come up with other things to do. It actually went by fast. We watched a movie, went shopping, swimming and we had a great time. We stayed up late and slept in until 10 or so. It was nice having those dark curtains to keep the room darker. I am thinking I want to put them in my kids rooms so we all get a little more sleep. The team did really good and won the round robin of our group. Grandpa Bushling came to watch again. He is so supportive to our kids and their activities. Thanks Grandpa Bushling!!! Zach was doing great. He played short stop and pitched. When Zach needed some confidence building when he was pitching the infield would gather around him to help build him up. I loved this photo of the boys together helping Zach relax and feel good about pitching.

He did well at batting and almost hit it to the fence a few times. Zach's favorite thing to do is run the bases. He was always good about stealing the bases. He liked the thrill of getting to the next base and not getting out. Last year he would always give me a heart attack trying to steal the bases. The other parents said they always enjoyed watching Zach run the bases. That is because he wasn't their child always on the edge of getting out. Zach is a fast runner so most of the time he would beat the pick off.

The team took 3rd over all and qualified for Regionals in Utah. The parents all voted and the majority voted not to go. Even though we have played ball for 5 months we were bummed that it was over. Next year if they go to regionals and do well they can go to the world series. So for me I am glad we have a break before the next sport starts and next year might be a really long year. Zach is a great ball player and has improved every year. We love watching him play ball. Great year Zach, you are becoming a very good ball player.
